Hong Kong – December 13, 2021】The 4th “CMHK Hong Kong Hiking Festival”, co-organized by China Mobile Hong Kong and Hong Kong Hiking Association, China, has officially launched today. Riding on the success of previous years, the event returns this year under the themes of “Hiking Safety” & “Conservation” to further build momentum in promoting healthy living and educate the public to protect the natural habitat, conserve the environment and pay attention to hiking safety. At the same time, CMHK also launched “WeWalk for 100,000 Steps” campaign on MyLink App, inviting the public to “Walk for Health” and support conservation work by launching the MyLink credit scheme for the first time.

Honoured guests were invited to jointly host the kick-off ceremony for this year, including Dr. Y.K. Dr. Li Feng, Co-Chairman of the organizing committee and Chairman of China Mobile Hong Kong Company Limited, said at the ceremony, “Apart from raising people’s awareness towards healthy living, CMHK Hiking Festival also aims to leverage to Hong Kong’s natural advantages, building Hong Kong as the most favourable place for hiking in the world. We wish to let everyone know the importance of conservation, which requires everyone’s participation in addition to the advocacy of environmental groups. Therefore, this year’s Hiking Festival’s ‘WeWalk for 100,000 Steps’ campaign features specially strengthened conservation elements, in the hope that we may contribute to environmental protection.” Dr Li Feng also reminded the public, “We must all pay attention to our safety while enjoying the beautiful scenery during hiking. At the same time, we should also be kind to the environment on our hiking adventures, as keeping the countryside clean is the responsibility of every hiker.”

Dr. Li Feng continued, “During the pandemic, the organising committee of the Hiking Festival encouraged people to ‘WeWalk for Health’ through online and offline activities. With huge support from people from all walks of life, the number of participants on MyLink App is rising steadily. Meanwhile, Hong Kong Tourism Board has been a strong promoter of the ‘Green Local Tour Scheme’ held under the conditions of the pandemic, to help the travel industry and to let people discover more local gems, thereby promoting local tourism. The event today is organised under the guidance and regulations of ‘Green Local Tour’, so that we may all enjoy our hiking adventures safely during the pandemic.” In addition to vigorously promoting hiking activities, Dr. Li Feng also encouraged attendees and their relatives and friends in “Casting Your Vote For Hong Kong – Our Home”, by voting together to create a better future for Hong Kong.

Over the year, there have been many organizations that have spared no effort in promoting hiking activities. Today at the event, the organiser specially presented a number of awards of appreciation to the related organisations for their contributions in the past. They included the “Hiking Safety Support Award” to the Civil Aid Service, “Environmental Conservation Award” to the Green Council, “Hiking Volunteer Team Award” to the volunteer team “Giant Grouper”, and “Countryside Cleaning Promotion Award” to the Outstanding Young Persons’ Association.

With the kick-off ceremony of the 4th “CMHK Hong Kong Hiking Festival”, the festival has officially launched this year, including the MyLink “Hike Like A Pro” event. A number of local hiking professionals have been invited to record hiking videos to create lively and interesting content, enabling everyone to discover the joy of the 24 solar terms hiking routes. They also shared conservation and safety hiking tips to help people get prepared for their next hiking trip. The MyLink “WeWalk for 100,000 Steps” event has also commenced on the same day, and runs from now until the 21st of December 2021. Participants only have to complete three missions within the specified time. They include: mission one – “Group Formation Mission”, mission two – answer questions on “conservation and safety hiking,” and mission three – “Steps Counting Task”, to be granted the opportunity of winning the “Limited Edition CMHK Hong Kong Hiking Festival Monopoly” or MyLink Points*. CMHK also launched the MyLink credit scheme to support conservation for the first time, through which participants can convert the MyLink Points gained in the activities into donations; every 2,000 MyLink Points are worth HKD20 in donations, or every 5,000 MyLink Points are worth HKD50 in donations.
